Renovation of the bridge surface began on Monday. In the afternoon and evening, traffic on Zgorzelecka Street and along the entire bypass was paralyzed. The traffic lights installed to facilitate vehicle passage did little to help. Queues of vehicles could be seen in many parts of the city.
A massive traffic jam formed along the old arterial road—from the railway station to the roundabout by the bridge. In addition, a detour via Ceramiczna Street was impossible because the sewerage system is being replaced there. Drivers waited several dozen minutes to enter and leave Bolesławiec. The renovation also caused significant delays in bus services.
Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad apologizes to everyone for the inconvenience and promises that the renovation of the bridge surface will continue until December 8.
