The Concert for Volunteers, organized by the District Board of the Polish Red Cross in Bolesławiec, took place on Friday at the Old Theatre. During the ceremony, Polish Red Cross Honorary Badges were presented. They were awarded to Dr. Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk (third-degree badge), as well as Ewa Sutryk and Krystyna Książek (fourth-degree badges).
The “Friend of the Polish Red Cross 2005” statuettes (made by Czesław Matyjewicz from BOK based on a design by Łukasz Mierzwa) were awarded to: Bogumiła Samoszyńska, Laura Słocka-Przydróżna, Janina Majewska, Jan Cołokidzi, Piotr Roman, Brigadier General Stanisław Butlak, Dariusz Pawliszczy, the “Azart-Sat” Local Television, the German Red Cross in Bautzen, and Marek Łętowski.
More than 65 people were honored, including directors and managers of institutions and local-government units, as well as newspaper editorial teams. Among those honored were honorary blood donors who had donated more than 40 liters of blood, young people, sponsors, donors and teachers.
