The Bolesławiec resident competed in the Women Elite category and in the team tournament. In the first round of Women Elite, Krystyna Szwajkowska defeated Poland's Sylwia Borek, scoring 25 points (21:19, 21:2, 21:17). In the second round, the Bolesławiec player defeated Joyce Crouse of the Netherlands, gaining 15 points (21:2, 16:21, 21:18, 5:4). Unfortunately, in the quarterfinals, our player was unable to overcome Germany's Silke Altman, the number-two seed. The quarterfinal ended with a result of minus 15 points for the Bolesławiec player (12:21, 7:21, 21:6, 12:7).

In the team tournament, Krystyna Szwajkowska decisively defeated the Finnish player, giving her team a 38-point lead. Unfortunately, the Polish national team lost the entire match by 13 points. The Finns proved much better than the Poles. In addition, the Polish team was unlucky in the draw, as losing the match against Finland meant they could compete only for ninth place. The Polish national team easily secured ninth place by defeating Hungary and the Czech Republic in succession. Meanwhile, Poland's conquerors, the Finns, competed against Sweden for the gold medal. Ultimately, the Finnish representatives had to settle for second place.

Poland was represented in the team tournament by: Krystyna Szwajkowska (Boleslawiec), Sylwia Borek, Robert Wyszyński, Leszek Borys, Norbert Stolicki (Boleslawiec), Bogdan Mierzyński and Jacek Szubert (Boleslawiec). Bolesławiec residents Norbert Stolicki and Jacek Szubert each won one match in the individual Men Open tournament and earned additional points in the world rankings.
