The Czech Open tournament was held on 25 March in Prague. A total of 48 pairs took part. The doubles title was won by Norbert Stolicki and Krzysztof Samonek. On their way to the final, the Bolesławiec residents defeated the pairings of Kroier (Germany)/Granvile (New Zealand), Bosselman/Weeisner (both Germany), and the twelfth-ranked pair in the world—austrian duo Krenn and Schubert. In the match for the gold medal and the title of International Czech Champions, Norbert and Krzysztof defeated the Czech-English pairing of Vesely/Maners by thirteen points. The third TOP representative, Jacek Szubert, also competed. He played doubles with Rafał Rykowski from Wrocław. The Polish pair reached the quarterfinals, where they had to acknowledge the superiority of a German pair.

The Bolesławiec residents performed somewhat worse in singles. Of the 96 competitors, Norbert Stolicki advanced to the semifinals, while Krzysztof Samonek finished the individual competition in ninth place. In the match for a place in the final, Norbert lost to the world’s third-ranked player, Jermaine Manners of England. In the battle for bronze, the TOP player had to concede defeat to Austrian Christopher Krenn, who leads the world rankings.
