The ceremonial end of the school year for final-year classes at the Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec is behind us. Among those attending the ceremony were, among others, Parents’ Council Chairwoman Kazimiera Kotwica, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman and Deputy Starost of Bolesławiec County Stanisław Chwojnicki.
The school’s headmaster, Mirosław Sakowski, spoke: “When I think about these past three years, it seems to me that they passed along two parallel paths. The first was gaining knowledge; the second was psychological—the period of emotional maturation, forming friendships and falling in love. I think that this second sphere of school life was more pleasant and sank deeply into your hearts. I hope it will remain there forever.
“We are in a good school, and during this ceremony one can sense that a good atmosphere exists between people here. This created conditions for you to develop your abilities. You are a generation born in free Poland. Freedom brought both good things and threats. However, in my opinion, the good has prevailed,” said Piotr Roman. “Our generation often envies you the opportunities you have today. I wish you would use the knowledge, skills and character traits instilled in you by your teachers, mentors and parents. It matters to me that each of you finds your own path.
“You should be proud that you attended such a beautifully equipped general secondary school,” emphasized Stanisław Chwojnicki. “I thank the teachers for the work they have put in; they shape these young people, guide them in the direction they should take and identify talents. Congratulations to the parents. I would also like to thank the students for achieving very good results in their studies and in sport. I attended a performance by your drama club. It is wonderful that you pursue your interests not only in academics.
During the ceremony, among others, third-year students who achieved the best results in their studies (Jędrzej Janczewski was named graduate of the year) and in sport, as well as those who were active in the student council, were honored. What is more, at the request of the Teachers’ Council, the headmaster decided to present a special award to the II LO student with the most versatile personality. It went to Maciej Goss.
The ceremony was enhanced by performances by II LO students. The event was hosted by Katarzyna Frydryk and Kamil Igras.
