A recitation competition for young people, “The Work of Karol Wojtyła – the Great Pole and Pope,” was held at the Orzeł Cultural Integration Centre. The participants’ choice of texts was very diverse, and their level was evenly matched.
Out of 46 students, the jury—Agata Lenda and Mariusz Laudański—selected six winners in two categories (lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools). Among the lower-secondary students, first place went to Weronika Kata, who recited the poem “When You Open Your Eyes in the Depths of the Wave”; second place went to Urszula Borucińska, who presented the work “Participation”; and third place went to Ada Gabrych, who performed “Thoughts of Man.” In the upper-secondary school category, first place for a fragment of a drama was awarded to Laura Buryło, second place went to Klaudia Żołna for the work “In Front of the Jeweller’s,” and third place went to Martyna Stasiak.
The competition was organised by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre and the Bolesławiec Marian Basilica.
In addition to the competition, a number of events commemorating the pontificate of John Paul II have been prepared in our city. The detailed programme can be found on the posters.
