At the Wedding Hall, on 27 March at 6:00 p.m., poetry lovers and friends of Danuta Maślicka will be able to meet the poet and discover her new poems, published in the volume “Spektakl”.
In the introduction to the volume, Danuta Maślicka wrote: “I assume that everyone has their own story and that, by writing, we defend our lives against loneliness, emptiness, fear and … oblivion. Poetry is a moment of silence amid the hustle and bustle of the world, the multitude of stimuli, offers and proposals for living.”
Danuta Maślicka’s poetic stories move readers and inspire reflection. The question of memory and the fear of being forgotten often appear in the poet’s work. The author preserves her own life in memory. Memory seems to be a foundation of life for her. That is why, in her poems, she cares so beautifully about remembering people, events, meetings, enchantments and stories.
In the poem “The Demolition of the Old House”, Danuta Maślicka wrote: “They demolished it, or perhaps rather dismantled it. And sorted everything.(…) Only the tracks worn into this place could not be thrown onto the pile.” The poet remembers the worn tracks, follows them, records their location and makes sure that merciless time does not cover them, because she does not trust human memory.
“But why does it not remember?
Bored with the multitude of things to remember,
out of laziness it overlooks some,
it attaches no greater importance to others. (…)
After the meeting, it will be possible to purchase the author’s volume of poems, “Spektakl”.
