The gala of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie took place on Friday, 14 March, at the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec. The ceremony was attended, among others, by county head Dariusz Kwaśniewski, deputy county head Stanisław Chwojnicki, head of the Education, Culture, Physical Culture and Sport Department of the Bolesławiec County Office Alicja Krzyszczak, Deputy Mayor of Bolesławiec Kornel Filipowicz, Bolesławiec Commune head Andrzej Dutkowski, Chair of the Commune Council Bogusław Uziej and director of the Commune Culture and Sport Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn, Janusz Cieśla.
The gala was hosted by Tomasz Włoszczyński, the captain of our volleyball team. “Before the season, few people believed that BTS had a chance to compete in the Lower Silesian league. The team was supposed to gain experience in the fourth division, but the system was reorganized and an expanded third division, split into two groups, was created,” he said. “It turned out, however, that BTS finished the season successfully. Both the players and the coach and board gained valuable experience, which can only pay off in the future. Life does not like stagnation; those who do not move forward will fall behind, so the club will certainly do everything possible to join the fight for promotion to the second division next season.
Everyone gathered at the Old Theatre watched a presentation of the senior team’s achievements in the 2013/2014 league season. The profiles of the players and the institutions supporting the club’s activities were also presented. There was also a surprise for the fans: a drum bearing the logo of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie.
The ceremony was also an opportunity to thank those who support BTS. “We try to remember everyone,” emphasizes Jacek Łuczkowski, president of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie. “Both local government officials, the County Office and the director of MDK, Marek Łętowski, who made the beautiful Old Theatre available to us, as well as the woman who cleans the hall where we play. There is simply a good atmosphere for volleyball here.
“The players are the most important, however,” emphasizes the BTS president. “During the gala, smiles never left their faces. It is the same at training sessions. They have great fun playing volleyball and want to do it. This sport gives them pleasure. And that is, after all, what matters. The sporting objective and results are important, but volleyball should simply be enjoyable for them.
Importantly, all BTS players are from Bolesławiec. “This is not a mercenary army, as in Oleśnica, where volleyball players were brought in from all over the country. They know and like one another. That is why such a fantastic atmosphere prevails in our team and in the stands,” adds Jacek Łuczkowski.
Among others, Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Andrzej Dutkowski and Kornel Filipowicz spoke during the ceremony. Local officials declared that they would continue supporting our volleyball team.
The gala was enhanced by performances from dance groups led by Krystyna Abramowicz (the Commune Culture and Sport Centre in Nowogrodziec) and Anna Leśniewska (the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec).
