This year, before the official gala to be held on March 13, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman honored Łukasz Kubot, winner of the doubles final at the Grand Slam Australian Open, with an award for promoting Bolesławiec.
The honorary award was presented in Bolesławiec during Łukasz Kubot’s brief stay in our city. Due to his busy schedule, the famous tennis player will not be able to attend the gala awarding prizes for promoting Bolesławiec; the tennis player’s father will participate in the ceremony. The honorary award, a statuette made by Studio Borowski, was warmly received by Łukasz Kubot. As the honored tennis player noted, it was also a pleasant surprise for him.
The tournament took place at the end of January. In the Australian Open doubles final, Łukasz Kubot and Swede Robert Lindstedt defeated American Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen of South Africa. After the victory, Kubot thanked his family and fans in Polish: “I would like to thank my parents. I would like to greet all my friends who were with me, and of course my fans as well. In life, only beautiful moments matter. Greetings to Bolesławiec!”
