We reported on the incomplete illumination in December last year. The issue was publicized in the pages of the “Istotne Informacje” portal by its editor-in-chief Krzysztof Gwizdała, who started a forum thread entitled “Poorly lit viaduct” in June. He wrote: “This is what our viaduct looks like. Not only are half the lamps not working, but someone without any imagination is also putting in bulbs that shine in different colors. Unfortunately, the viaduct looks ugly...”

We established that the Municipal Commune pays for the electricity needed to illuminate the viaduct, while PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. is responsible for the lamps and all the equipment.

– The lighting is currently being repaired. Burnt-out bulbs are being replaced, and damaged lighting fixtures are being repaired and replaced. Several metres of cable also need to be replaced – Bohdan Ząbek from the PKP PLK press team told us in December 2013. He added that the work would be completed by the end of the year.

That did not happen, however. – Some of the work on the viaduct illumination has been completed. The power cable has been repaired and the burnt-out bulbs have been replaced – Bohdan Ząbek explains. – Replacing the vandalized lighting fixtures, due to their specific characteristics, required ordering them directly from the manufacturer. The contractor says that the replacement of the fixtures should be completed by the end of January.

He adds: – Removing the dirt, which is difficult because of the porous sandstone surface and weather conditions, is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. Like other companies, we cooperate with everyone who can help prevent the vandalization of structures such as bridges, but unfortunately we face similar problems with hooligans and additional costs.
