Halloween, a holiday that is becoming increasingly popular in Poland, originates from a Celtic custom. On the eve of November 1, bonfires were lit for the souls of the dead, as it was believed that on this night the spirits of the dead returned to earth. To drive away demons, people wore masks intended to scare them off and made terrifying noise. Halloween is currently most popular in the United States. The celebrations primarily involve dressing up as ghosts, going from house to house, and demanding “ransom” in the form of sweets.
This coming Sunday, precisely on the occasion of Halloween, Bolesławiec Cultural Center invites you to Orzeł Cinema at 6:00 p.m. for a screening of two horror films. “Przepowiednia” (a Mexican production) and “Gra wstępna” (a Korean production) will be shown. A pass for both films, priced at 10 PLN, can be purchased at the Orzeł Cinema box office just before the screening.
