More than a thousand people came to see the fairy tale “Frozen” and the cinema hit “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Children and parents eagerly visited Santa Claus and Snowflake, who handed out presents and offered sweets beneath the largest Christmas tree in Bolesławiec, decorated in four different ways. Forty-five competition nativity scenes were presented in the gallery. Children from the “Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble prepared a Christmas Concert.

At the opening of the “Christmas Exhibition,” guests were welcomed by: Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska and Mayor Piotr Roman. Children from the “Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble sang several Christmas songs: “Hey, on the Day of the Nativity,” “Sleigh Bells,” and “Come, Santa Claus.”

A market selling works created in the BOK-MCC art studios was held at the ceramics shop. Voting also began for the 45 nativity scenes entered in the competition for the most beautiful manger. The competition was held under the patronage of the city mayor.

The nativity scenes were prepared with exceptional care. Among the several dozen works, those made with particular precision stand out. The mangers were made by hand from various materials. Two nativity scenes are made of gingerbread, and two of pasta covered with gold spray paint. Artists viewing the works emphasized the precision of their execution. Some nativity scenes feature handmade animals and human figures made of salt dough, plasticine and scraps of fabric.

Visitors will decide which nativity scene is the most beautiful. The BOK-MCC gallery can be visited every day until December 18 to cast a vote. The competition results will be announced during Bolesławiec’s Star of Kindness event on Friday, December 20, at 6:00 p.m.
