A gallery in a bank is a good place to present an artist’s work to a large number of people. More than 60% of the region’s residents use Sparkasse’s services.

In this unusual gallery, Mateusz Grobelny was the second Polish exhibiting artist. Several years ago, photographs by an artist from Toruń were displayed there. The opening of Mateusz Grobelny’s exhibition proved to be a good idea and quite a surprise. Our neighbours most often associated Bolesławiec with beautiful, colourful ceramic tableware. They did not hide their surprise that artistically mature and diverse ceramic sculptures are also created here.

In a conversation with Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MCC, Mandy Thronicker and Katarzyna Khansa, who are responsible for organising the exhibitions, asked for the opportunity to present more artists from Bolesławiec.

Three years ago, representatives of Zittau visited Bolesławiec. Among them were, among others, people managing Sparkasse. In a conversation with President Piotr Roman, they boasted that, in addition to the mission typical of every bank, they particularly promote artists, mainly from Saxony. They have a large room adapted for use as a gallery.

Art exhibitions are presented there every month. Their creators include both established artists and amateurs who can boast artistic achievements. The exhibition openings are quite popular. Customers visiting the bank can engage directly with art. The bank’s artist-friendly formula appealed to local residents so much that the exhibition calendar is filled for the next four years. The guests gladly accepted the president’s proposals to showcase the work of our ceramic artists in Zittau. After nearly three years, the agreement was finalised.
