The match began disastrously for BKS. As early as the 2nd minute, MKS launched an attack down the right, crossed into our penalty area and, after a close-range shot, Szczawno took the lead. The hosts mounted another dangerous attack in the 7th minute. A throw-in landed six metres from the goal guarded by Kamil Kulesza, and a home player’s shot past the post gave Kamil no chance. We were losing 2–0. We scored our first goal in the 25th minute. Jacek Bochnia produced a fine shot from 18 metres, leaving the home goalkeeper helpless. 2–1 to Szczawno. In the 28th minute, Marcin Kraśnicki levelled with a header. 2–2.
A controversial situation occurred in the 45th minute. A Bolesławiec defender made a mistake while bringing the ball out of our half. His inaccurate pass fell to a Szczawno player. Following a quick attack down the left and a cross into our penalty area, one of the hosts produced an excellent header towards our goal. The powerfully struck ball hit the crossbar, then dropped near the goal line and bounced back into the field, where it was collected by Kamil Kulesza. Unfortunately, the assistant referee, positioned level with the edge of the penalty area, signalled to the referee that the ball had crossed the goal line! Our players’ and coach’s protests were to no avail. The referee awarded a goal to Szczawno. We were losing 3–2.
The second half was a fierce battle on the pitch from both sides. In the 68th minute, a home player (K. Draj) was shown a second yellow card and, consequently, a red card. Despite having an extra player, our attacks were ineffective. In the 80th minute, the home goalkeeper Damian Michno fouled Marcin Kraśnicki 18 metres from goal. The referee’s decision was unequivocal: a red card for the goalkeeper, and we played with a two-man advantage. In the 87th minute, Marek Majka levelled with a header. During stoppage time, Paweł Rissmann made a mistake in front of the BKS penalty area. The referee awarded the hosts a free kick from 18 metres, and Paweł left the pitch after receiving a red card. A superb MKS Szczawno player’s shot left Kamil Kulesza helpless once again. We were losing 4–3.
Unfortunately, once again we showed that the BKS team cannot play away from home.
