Last week, we wrote that municipal officials had told us that representatives of the Jelenia Góra WORD had announced that the Bolesławiec centre would open later this year.
This information is confirmed by Robert Tarsa, head of the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship Road Traffic Centre. “We are doing everything we can to open WORD in Bolesławiec as soon as possible,” he says. “At present, we are looking for the cheapest and fastest solution.”
Robert Tarsa also addressed the issue of traffic congestion in Bolesławiec, which is raised very often on our forum. “We anticipate a dozen or so examinations a day. The routes will run outside the city centre. The number of cars certainly will not be large enough to cause traffic jams,” stresses the director of the Jelenia Góra centre. “What is more, in the near future we do not expect the kind of boom in examinations that occurred one or two years ago.”
Some of our readers also suggested that it would be very easy to pass the driving test in Bolesławiec. As a result, many inexperienced drivers would be driving around our city. “Some people say that it is much easier to pass in a smaller city than in a larger one,” says Robert Tarsa. “However, examinations have to be conducted within a reasonable time, between 40 and 50 minutes. We have been told that examinations in Wrocław take place not far from the WORD. If examinees were to drive into the city centre, they could get stuck in a traffic jam, and the examinations would then take twice as long. It is similar in Jelenia Góra. We do not enter some parts of the city because we know there are traffic jams there.”
“It certainly will be neither easier nor more difficult than in Jelenia Góra,” the director concludes. “From my point of view, Bolesławiec is just as urbanised as Jelenia Góra, perhaps even more so.”
We will return to this subject.
