The opening of the watercolor painting exhibition by Krystyna Raszka took place on November 6 at the Michał Twerd Gallery (II LO, Dolne Młyny Street). More than 60 people attended the opening, the vast majority of them friends and good acquaintances of Krystyna.

The first to speak was Mirosław Sakowski, principal of II Liceum Ogólnokształcące. “This is another exhibition at our gallery. Previously, such outstanding artists as Michał Twerd, Stanisława Jarmakowicz, Jadwiga Sarzyńska and Dominika Kustosz, Czesław Matyjewicz, Magdalena Konieczna and Ryszard Jethon presented their works here,” the school principal said. He added that he wished Krystyna the kind of success achieved by Claude Monet.

“Today I wanted to invite you on two excursions,” the painter said during the exhibition opening. “On one side are my gardens, and on the other—mainly Tuscany. Flowers are my passion. But architecture is a real challenge for me. And I must admit that from time to time I manage to paint something that positively surprises even me. I wonder: did I paint that?”

Krystyna emphasized that when she paints, she forgets about the entire world, and the hours pass unnoticed. Indeed, the works presented at the exhibition at II LO radiate authenticity and the joy of creation. These watercolors are worth seeing.

The opening was enhanced by female students from “the two,” students of teacher Elwira Madeiska, who recited poems about painting by, among others, Wisława Szymborska, Adam Zagajewski and Stanisław Grochowiak.

In addition, she travels and has varied interests.

She has been painting for eight years. She is self-taught. So far, she has presented her work at two solo exhibitions (in 2007 and 2013) and three group exhibitions. From 2006 to 2010, she repeatedly displayed her work in one of the windows of the Agora bookstore.

The exhibition at II LO focuses on flowers and Italy. “Watercolor has always fascinated me. However, a lack of time and professional responsibilities did not allow me to pick up a brush. Today I am inspired by flowers and the places I discover, above all Paris and Tuscany,” the artist says.
