The Bolesławiec branch of the Society for the Protection of Animals was established on September 28 at the Municipal Police. It is the first and only such branch in Bolesławiec. It consists of ten people.
In October, two municipal police officers will begin training to become Inspectors of the Society for the Protection of Animals. The qualifications they obtain will allow the officers to intervene, for example, when people abuse animals. The police will also deal with animals injured after being hit by a car.
At the same time, municipal police officers will work to ensure that young people understand that animals are not objects. A series of educational meetings for preschoolers and school students has been planned for this purpose. During the classes, children will learn how to care for animals. In the future, the branch members also want to organize free sterilization campaigns for dogs and cats. This is intended to prevent these animals from breeding excessively.
The Bolesławiec Municipal Police and the Society for the Protection of Animals branch are based at Mikołaja Brody Street; telephone: (0-75) 644 79 90.
