X The nationwide Rock Blok w BOK review of music bands has come to an end. The winners of this year’s edition were selected during the finale. The jury decided to split the first-place prize and award it to two bands. Głogów-based Lusz received a contract to record an album at the “Bluesaw” studio owned by Jacek Krzaklewski, while Bytom-based Error received PLN 2,000.

The jury also awarded special prizes of PLN 500 each to the best instrumentalists and vocalist. The best voice belonged to Katarzyna Grabowska of Soft Light Fire from Karpacz. The best bassist was Romuald Kołodziej (Soft Light Fire). Poison Tree received the most distinctions. The band received the award for the best rhythm section (Wojciech Orzech on drums and Wojciech Wiktorski on bass—the cash prize was awarded only to the drummer) and was also honored with the journalists’ award from Panorama Dolnośląska, Radio Wrocław, Muzyczne Radio from Jelenia Góra, and Boleslawiec.org. Paweł Wrocławski, who played in both Poison Tree and Soft Light Fire, was named the review’s best guitarist.

After the finale, it was time to thank the review’s longtime organizer, Ryszarda Wołowicka, who parted ways with the event this year. The gathered audience applauded her for the many years they had spent together.

After a one-hour technical break, the star of this year’s review, Kasia Kowalska, appeared on stage with her band. The group energized the audience to such an extent that people danced in front of the stage and sang Kasia Kowalska’s songs together. The people of Bolesławiec particularly enjoyed a solo performance by Wojtek Pilichowski, the bassist performing with Kasia Kowalska. Wojtek Pilichowski was one of the review’s jurors and also teaches every year at the “Blues nad Bobrem” workshops.

Boleslawiec.org was the media patron of Rock Blok w BOK.
