The Champions Tournament took place on Saturday, September 14, at the sports hall of I LO in Bolesławiec. The competition featured the best teams from amateur volleyball leagues in Złotoryja, Jelenia Góra, Lubań, Chojnów and Bolesławiec. Here are the semifinal results:
- Old Stars Lubań – Na Bogato Lubań 2–1 (25:22, 11:25, 15:8)
- BTS Bolesławiec – UE Jelenia Góra 2–0 (25:19, 25:16).
In the third-place match, Lubań team Na Bogato defeated UE Jelenia Góra 2–0 (25:18, 25:22). In the final, the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie team faced Old Stars Lubań. In April this year, during the final of the second edition of the Bolesławiec Amateur Volleyball League, the Bolesławiec team had lost to Old Stars 1–3. This time, however, they triumphed. After an exciting contest, they won 3–0.
The winning team played in the following lineup: Kamil Biczak, Jakub Czyżewski, Arkadiusz Folga, Łukasz Krawiec, Paweł Nastula, Wojciech Nitecki, Jakub Pochodaj, Paweł Rutkowski, Robert Walkowiak, Paweł Wiatrowski, Tomasz Włoszczyński (captain) and Paweł Zakrzewski. The team’s coach is Krzysztof Mosiądz.
Men’s volleyball returns to Bolesławiec!
“I am pleased with this rematch, but I am even happier about the Champions Tournament we organized,” comments Jacek Łuczkowski, president of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie. “Thanks to our sponsors, we managed to make it possible for league matches to be held in Bolesławiec. We entered our team in the third league. Admittedly, we had some problems at the outset. Many potential sponsors are afraid to support us in advance. But we are still inviting them to cooperate with us. Political or social affiliations do not matter. We simply want high-level volleyball in Bolesławiec.”
“It is wonderful that Mr. Jacek Łuczkowski took this initiative,” emphasizes Tomasz Włoszczyński, captain of the BTS team. “There is no shortage of good volleyball players in Bolesławiec. There was a time when our players played for clubs in other cities. Now that the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie team has been established, they are returning and want to play here.”
“Today we showed some good volleyball, and given that we had not had many joint training sessions before the tournament, things can only get better,” the BTS team captain continues. And he promises: “We will give our all in every match.”
League matches will be held in the gymnasium of the Bolesławiec Secondary and Vocational School Complex (ul. Komuny Paryskiej). This is not the only assistance Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie will receive from the County. “A group of volleyball enthusiasts approached us for support,” says Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec County Board. “We do not have much money, but we will provide financial support for the coach. We will also make the gyms of upper-secondary schools available for training. In time, we will also consider financial support for the team.”
The tournament’s best player was Bartłomiej Świdziński (UE Jelenia Góra). Wojciech Nitecki (BTS Bolesławiec) was named the best attacker, while Łukasz Mesjasz (Old Stars Lubań) was named the best server. Kamil Biczak was named the best outside hitter, and Paweł Nastula the best setter (both from BTS Bolesławiec). The referees were Tomasz Medyński, Jerzy Nastula and Jan Dudek.
The honorary patronage of the tournament was assumed by county governor Cezary Przybylski. Istotne.pl was the event’s media patron. Jacek Łuczkowski and Dariusz Kwaśniewski presented awards to the best players.
The tournament was organized with the assistance of the Bolesławiec County Office and sponsors: JAWA, Elektros, BMA, Bart Music, Galeria Bolesławiec City Center and Agencja Reklamowa Durda. More information on the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie website.
