The fifth investor in the Bolesławiec subzone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone “Invest-Park” is Wrocław-based Kegger (a manufacturer of special-purpose roadside assistance vehicles and vehicle bodies in the form of tarpaulins). Previously, the following companies invested in the area: Swiss corporation Hoerbiger, American company Guardian, and Bolesławiec-based companies Lesław Sacher – Metal Cutting and Elektros.
On Tuesday, September 20, a topping-out ceremony was held at the Bolesławiec subzone. Dariusz Kozioł, president of Kegger, spoke. “Once the new facility opens, we will expand our offer with a revolutionary solution for transporting goods. In addition to an assembly hall, welding shop and assembly workshop, an important part of the building will be a research laboratory where we will be able to conduct research and tests on solutions implemented by Kegger,” he said.
He added: “Next year, after the investment is completed, we intend to expand our offer to include vehicle bodies for Mercedes, Iveco and Renault vehicles. None of this would be possible without the favorable conditions created for us by the Zone and the City of Bolesławiec.”
“Many people believe that special economic zones are places for global brands. That is only part of the picture, because we have many small, domestic, local companies that operate globally,” says Barbara Kaśnikowska, president of WSSE “Invest-Park” sp. z o.o. “We want local companies to operate in the zone, put down roots here and not move their production elsewhere, as well as companies that implement new technologies. Balance is important. Small companies are often subcontractors for large ones; it is a well-functioning ecosystem.”
“I am very pleased, because it has been exactly five years since the first shovel was driven into the ground at the Bolesławiec subzone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, and we now have our fifth investor,” Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman emphasized during the ceremony. “It is said that the zones were created for Western companies; Kegger is wonderful proof that our zone is open to small, local capital.”
The investment is scheduled for completion in June 2014. Kegger plans to employ approximately 10 people.
