On Saturday (August 3), after 10:00 p.m., police received a report of a possible drowning at a gravel pit on Graniczna Street. The police were notified by a woman who had been swimming with the 29-year-old man. The search for the 29-year-old began that same Saturday night, but it yielded no results. On Sunday morning, his body was found. The man had probably consumed alcohol before drowning. This is the first drowning in the Bolesławiec region this season.

Police appeal for people to follow safety rules and exercise caution near the water. They also remind people that when seeking relief from the heat in the water, they should not test their abilities in rivers, lakes or gravel pits—places where whirlpools, currents, uneven bottoms and vegetation may occur.
