On hot days, children play in the fountain in Bolesławiec’s market square. Their parents accompany them and watch their water games. Sometimes adults also take advantage of the attraction in Bolesławiec. Are such baths safe? According to the Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji, which operates the fountain, they certainly are.
– The water in the fountain is monitored all the time. It is disinfected and poses no bacteriological risk. In addition, it is replenished on an ongoing basis when some of it evaporates – says Józef Król, president of PWiK.
A mechanism is installed beneath the fountain to filter the water and operate like a water-treatment plant. PWiK employees check at least twice a week whether the equipment is working properly.
