Henryk Baranowski has died. He passed away at the age of 70. He was a Renaissance man: a film, theater and opera director, as well as an actor, poet and philosopher. At the same time, he was a person with a highly logical mind and broad-ranging talents. Film enthusiasts knew him, among other roles, from the first and third parts of “Dekalog” by Krzysztof Kieślowski, in which he played the father. He also played Napoleon Bonaparte in Andrzej Wajda’s “Pan Tadeusz.”
Henryk Baranowski was very strongly associated with Bolesławiec. He completed secondary school and took his final exams here. The motif of his youth spent in our city often appeared in his poems.
Several years ago, we wrote about a meeting with Baranowski that took place in Kliczków. The Istotne.pl editorial team extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
