The Days of Gmina and City of Nowogrodziec will take place on 17–18 August. The main organizers of the celebration are the Gminne Centrum Kultury i Sportu and the Nowogrodziec municipal authorities.

For years, the organizers have regarded the promotion of local culture and traditions as the most important goal of this initiative. It is known that, for centuries, pottery was the most eloquent symbol of the municipality’s craftsmanship. At the end of the 19th century, 38 ceramic workshops operated in the town, and in 1933 a gigantic pot was created at one of these establishments. A young craftsman, Georg Buchwald, made a clay vessel with a capacity of 8,702 l and a height of 3.34 m.

“We would like to refer to the finest period of ceramic production in our town, and today we announce that during the Days of Gmina and City of Nowogrodziec, a huge— the world’s largest— monument-fountain shaped like a pot will be unveiled in the town center,” the organizers say.

The Days of the City and Gmina will also feature local artists, creators and entrepreneurs. There will also be artistic performances, including folk singing groups from Lower Silesia.

A rich program has been prepared for fans of popular music. Performing will be the group Manchester, Orkiestra Wczorajszego Fasonu, Zespół Sygnalistów Myśliwskich Durlakowe Rogi and Kora, the longtime vocalist of the legendary band Maanam and a judge on the program “Must Be the Music. Tylko muzyka”.

The artistic program is being prepared in cooperation with actors from Teatr im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida in Jelenia Góra. There will be plenty of attractions for the youngest participants, including interactive shows, performances, presentations and dance displays.
