Marita Benke-Gajda is one of the artists with the longest association with Bolesławiec’s Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshops. Every year during the workshop, the Museum of Ceramics presents works by an artist selected from among the most acclaimed figures in the field of ceramic sculpture. This time, a jubilee exhibition has been prepared to mark the 25th anniversary of Marita Benke-Gajda’s work in ceramics. The artist decided to present works created over the past five years.
Marita Benke-Gajda is associated in her everyday work with Kraków’s cultural community, as is Wojciech Kowalczyk, known to some for his drawings published in the press. The artist describes himself as a craftsman of art. His work is distinguished by an almost perfect line. The realism, rhythm and logic of his compositions make the drawing cycles complement the world of ceramic sculptures.
Despite their different techniques, materials and artistic personalities, the works of both artists focus on the same subject, encouraging reflection on human nature and the complexities of human fate.
The exhibition is on display at the Museum of Ceramics on Mickiewicza Street until the end of September.
