On 9 May, a ceremonial assembly marking European Union Day was held at the European Union School Complex in Świętoszów. The event was attended by Member of the European Parliament – Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg. The MEP presented the school with award-winning poster entries from the “Poster of the Polish Presidency of the European Union” competition. The artistic part of Thursday’s ceremony was enhanced by a performance by the school choir. Artur Wąs from class IV b recited a poem, while Magda Bednarek, a middle-school student and member of the School European Club, presented a paper on the European Union.
Also present at Thursday’s ceremony in Świętoszów were: Bolesławiec deputy district head Stanisław Chwojnicki, Osiecznica municipal secretary Małgorzata Słonecka, education inspector Jolanta Buryło, and the directors of Świętoszów schools: Maria Fedyczkowswka, Anna Goździk, Wioletta Jaworowska and Adam Kubów; Józef Trzuszkowski, director of the “Kubuś Puchatek” preschool; and Paweł Zieliński, Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg’s assistant. Flag-bearing delegations from the School Complexes in Osiecznica, Parowa and Tomisław were also present.
