Traditionally, both buildings, at 13 Mickiewicza Street and 14 Kutuzowa Street, will be open to visitors until midnight, and the exhibitions can be visited free of charge.
Especially for Museum Night, the museum staff in Bolesławiec have prepared two attractive exhibitions. In the Ceramics Department at 13 Mickiewicza Street, the exhibition “The World of 20th-Century Dolls,” prepared from the collection of the Municipal Toy Museum in Karpacz, will open at 10:00 that day. The exhibition will feature children’s dolls produced throughout the 20th century by Polish and German manufacturers, as well as furniture and other furnishings for dollhouses. These timeless, ageless toys, which have always been the object of every girl’s dreams, will certainly interest the youngest visitors, while also offering older guests a sentimental journey back to their childhood.
At the City History Department at 14 Kutuzowa Street, a unique exhibition will open at 4:00 p.m. that day, featuring stoneware masterpieces created through the work of the once world-famous Bolesławiec School of Ceramics. The exhibition “Bolesławiec Ceramics on the Road to Modernity” will present approximately 650 top-quality ceramic objects created in Bolesławiec in the first half of the 20th century, originating from several dozen museum and private collections in Poland and Germany. Visitors will be able to see works by professors and students of the Bolesławiec Vocational School of Ceramics, as well as the finest products from the most prominent manufacturers that collaborated with the School, received awards at numerous competitions and exhibitions, and were exported around the world. These include not only dinnerware and coffee and tea services, but also various types of containers, figurines, ashtrays and inkpots with elegant forms and beautiful decorations. A learning trail with stations enabling children to learn through play has been prepared for the youngest visitors.
Moreover, during Museum Night, the Museum’s academic staff will be ready to provide everyone interested with information, guidance and expert opinions on events or objects connected with the history and culture of the city.
