This year’s edition of the “Masonry Success” competition, organized by Powiat Bolesławiecki and the Guild of Various Crafts and Small Entrepreneurship, took place at the end of April at the Construction Schools Complex in Bolesławiec. Three-person teams from all across Lower Silesia took part in the competition.

Each team consisted of two bricklayers and a finishing-works technician. “Thanks to this competition, it was possible to determine which team had more experience in specific construction technologies,” he told us at the time Jacek Jurkiewicz, the director of the construction school. – The competition jury will take into account, among other things, the quality of execution, the aesthetics of the work, and whether occupational health and safety rules were observed.
– This is the third competition of this kind – he emphasized Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Management Board of Bolesławiec County. “Two years ago we organized a competition for the best hairdresser, last year for the best chef, and this year we decided to promote construction trades.
The “Walled Success” competition is aimed at students in vocational classes. “I have always wanted strong vocational schools and technical schools to operate in our county, so that young people would have a trade in hand,” Kwaśniewski added. “A graduate of management and marketing will earn three times less than the best bricklayer selected in this competition. We are not doing this for show or for PR. In our county, we have an excellent base of vocational schools, and that is why we encourage students to study at our vocational and technical schools.”
The competition was judged by a panel composed of: Łukasz Załucki, Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Krzysztof Pańczak, Marzena Kruk and Artur Nowak. The results announcement took place on May 7 at the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec. The competition was won by residents of Bolesławiec: Wojciech Chromiński, Paweł Bednarczuk and Rafał Krzysztofiński. Second place went to the team from Kamienna Góra (Andrzej Burghardt, Kamil Pielech and Adam Szega), and third place went to the Guild of Building Crafts in Wrocław, comprising: Adrian Cąkała, Dominik Jochym and Tomasz Śpiewak. The individual prize – funded by B&ZM Cieśla S.J. – was awarded to Wojciech Chromiński, a representative of the winning team.
