The equipment was handed over on April 16 at Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec. The ceremony was attended by, among others, Beata Sulska, head of the Social Affairs Department of the City Hall, Waldemar Bugaj, principal of MZS No. 2, and president of the Rosa Foundation Bohdan Pecuszok.
“We are extremely pleased that our school was selected by the organizers to implement the Lightweight Schoolbag program,” says Waldemar Bugaj. “The lockers are truly professionally made and have already won the approval of teachers, parents and, above all, children, who are, after all, the most demanding recipients of all new products. This is a very good initiative and a great help for our community.”
The lockers were given to a class taught by Małgorzata Lisiecka. The Bolesławiec school is the 17th school with which the Rosa Foundation has cooperated as part of the Lightweight Schoolbag program. “Under Polish law, primary schools should provide students with the opportunity to leave their textbooks and school supplies on school premises. However, because of budget constraints, especially in small towns and rural areas, this is very often impossible,” says Wioleta Pietryszyn, coordinator of the Lightweight Schoolbag program at the Rosa Foundation. “Our organization finances the purchase of modern lockers for students in grades 1–3, thereby reducing the weight of their schoolbags and, above all, protecting the spines of the youngest children.”
President Bohdan Pecuszok on the activities of the Rosa Foundation:
“If the lockers pass the test, we will equip more classes with them in the future,” the principal of MZS No. 2 announced in an interview with “ii”.
