The death of 25-year-old Igor Stachowiak at a police station in Wrocław in May 2016 became a symbol of a broader problem: abuses of power and the lack of accountability in the actions of law enforcement agencies.

Bolesławiec attorney Wojciech Kasprzyk is handling eight cases involving people who died as a result of police intervention. The foundation he established will deal with what the Polish state was unable to explain: cases involving the deaths of people following police intervention.

“Various people are working with us,” attorney Wojciech Kasprzyk says. “Lawyers, medical professionals, psychologists, IT specialists, and people who served in various uniformed services, including the Border Guard and the military. That is why our group is strong. We want to support citizens who have been left alone and who feel that the Polish state is sweeping their cases under the rug. Share with us the problems that concern you. Write in the comments, and we will try to help you,” Kasprzyk adds.
