The exhibition “Easy-to-Digest Thoughts” by Mateusz Grobelny can be viewed at the International Ceramics Centre. The exhibition was organised to mark Women’s Day.
The opening was conducted by Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre, together with Kamila Michoń, the artist’s model and life partner.
Mateusz Grobelny, widely known as a ceramic artist, this time presented himself as a draughtsman, graphic artist and painter. He presented female nudes once before, in 2006, in the basement of the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts building, at a solo drawing and graphics exhibition. Years later, the artist decided to show his works again at the BOK-MCC Gallery.
The “Easy-to-Digest Thoughts” series consists of drawings, graphics and paintings created using a variety of techniques. The artist used dripping (spontaneously splashing paint onto paper), wiping and polishing with a grinder, as well as scratching lines with nails. Through these unconventional means of expression, Grobelny created highly expressive compositions in which the female figure is the dominant motif. The varied texture creates the impression of three-dimensional images on the borderline of cubism, surrealism and even fantasy.
