The Municipal Public Library in Bolesławiec invites you to the opening of Krystyna Raszka’s watercolour exhibition Krystyna Raszka entitled “My Fascinations”. The opening will take place on 7 March (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. in the Format Gallery. The exhibition will be open to visitors until 14 April.

Krystyna Raszka. A Polish philologist. A person widely known. She loves poetry, art, architecture and classical music. She is fascinated by philosophy, cosmology and particle physics. She has been painting for six years.

The artist about herself:

Watercolour has always fascinated me. However, a lack of time and professional responsibilities did not allow me to pick up a brush. Today I know that things which sometimes exceed our capabilities are the beginning of a path to joy and can become a great passion. Nature and the places I discover are my main sources of inspiration. My painting is a constant process of searching, improving my skills and experimenting. I look for transparency in the air, the interplay of light and shadow, and changing colour reflections. With a dogged persistence, I return to the same subjects, frames and motifs, discovering ever better means of expression. Doors, street lamps, windows, flower petals. I practise glazing and am delighted by its possibilities, yet my works are still far from achieving satisfying results.

Watercolour is a particularly demanding technique. On the one hand, it brings joy and satisfaction; on the other, it is merciless, exposing all the shortcomings of one’s craft.

The time spent creating is a time of peace and quiet. Sounds of music circulate through the room, while a narrator’s voice comes from the television receiver. And the hours pass. I notice with surprise that they pass so quickly…

Painting has taught me patience and humility and given a new dimension to my life in retirement.
