– This year, once again, we won the competition to carry out foreign placements במסגרת the Leonardo da Vinci programme – says Barbara Smoleńska, the project’s coordinator and originator. At the end of February, 30 students of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. majora Henryka Sucharskiego, studying to become economic technicians and tourist service technicians, will travel to Chemnitz, Germany.

The school received PLN 254,000 from the Human Capital Operational Programme to carry out the project. The ZSOiZ students will spend a month with our western neighbours.

The students are currently preparing for the trip. They have 80 hours of German classes and 15 hours of cultural preparation scheduled. – The young people are acquiring skills that will allow them to communicate freely with other placement participants and perform work-related tasks – stresses Beata Żuromska, a German teacher who is taking part in the project for the fourth time.

In Chemnitz, the ZSOiZ students will prepare catalogues, fill out invoices and payroll lists, and place orders, among other tasks – all in Goethe’s language. – Our school’s students are highly praised by their supervisors in Germany – notes Beata Żuromska. – After completing their placements, these young people will receive Europass Mobility certificates and will certainly be valuable assets to potential employers.

– We hope that the placements will make it easier for us to get into university and find jobs – says Karol Bednarczyk. – We will have the opportunity to meet new people. We can also integrate as a group and improve our German, which we will soon be able to use in practice – adds Aleksandra Bartczak. – It is a great opportunity for us. Thanks to the Europass Mobility certificates, we will be able to work in Germany – adds Dominika Krzyśko.

– The added value of this project is intercultural education – says Barbara Smoleńska. – Students and university students from all over the world take part in these projects. Our students have the chance to meet Chinese, Turks and Spaniards. They will have the opportunity to learn about the cultures of many nations.
