We were asked to bring attention to the issue by a Reader (who wishes to remain anonymous). In an email to the editorial office, they wrote:
We would like to present the problem of the access road to the garages on Gdańska Street (from the courtyard on the side of the old buildings). Every time it rains, the same problem occurs on this road—the entire road is flooded. Water gets into the garage and also flows into the garage inspection pit!!!
After the January thaw, there was also a layer of ice beneath the water, making it impossible to reach either the waste container enclosure or the garages.
Despite reporting the problem to the authorities and cleaning the sewer manhole located there, the problem returns with every rainfall!!!
This problem has been going on for about five years. The road has suffered significant deformations, causing damage to and scraping the undercarriages of cars. There are also garages on the other side (the garages are arranged in two rows), and the access road there has a slope. The problem does not occur there.
To make matters worse, in recent months heavy construction equipment travelling to a construction site that has been operating there for several months has also been using our access road. [...]
We also hope that the problem will not end with merely cleaning our sewer manhole, because that really does not help at all!!!!!!
We contacted Janusz Kozioł from the Municipal Housing Management Authority about the matter. He first told us to find out whether MZGM actually administers the garages in question. When we confirmed this information at the source, J. Kozioł replied that we should refer the Reader to... the Municipal Housing Management Authority
“I asked the women who serve tenants of apartments and garages; they know nothing about it,” Kozioł stressed. “The best thing would be to send this gentleman to us. Let him report it so that MZGM employees can see what is happening there and what is causing it. We will then check the agreement and determine which party is responsible for the repair.”
We will return to the matter.
Update: 2013-02-01 09:00
“The road visible in the photographs is not administered by MZGM,” Janusz Kozioł informed us today. He added that, when he was still a city councillor, he had reported the need for repairs.
Update: 2013-02-04 14:00
We have established that this week the municipal services and PWiK took up the matter of the road.
