In November last year, we reported that students of II Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Janusza Korczaka in Bolesławiec had formed a group (comprising: Krystian Fecyk, Kacper Jędrzejewski, Jakub Feret, Łukasz Kowalski, Mateusz Kopeć, Magdalena Brzana, Denis Gonciarz and Dominik Karpiński), which organized, among other things, the Month of National Remembrance and Patriotism.
One of the group members, Kacper Jędrzejewski, came up with the idea of an assembly commemorating the 150th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, January 22, in the school’s hall. “We wanted the students to remember these events,” says Martyna Mularczyk, the project coordinator.
During the assembly, the high school students had the opportunity to see a presentation devoted to the uprising and listen to the memoirs of one of the insurrection’s participants, as well as the poem “Morituri te salutant” by Felicjan Faleński.
An exhibition was also opened that day, featuring, among other things, drawings by Michał Krestow. The next historical project at II LO will take place at the beginning of March. The school’s students will then commemorate the memory of the Cursed Soldiers.
