The village’s long history is evidenced by a historic 15th-century church and historical traces indicating regular floods that affected the settlement approximately every 20 years. One of the buildings bears a record of the highest water level, from 1897.

The 700th-anniversary celebrations began with the unveiling of a commemorative granite stone bearing an inscription marking the anniversary of the settlement’s founding. After the stone was unveiled, the residents of Nowa and guests enjoyed a festival. As is customary, various competitions were organized. One of the more interesting events involved building a tower from wooden elements.

The organizers of the celebrations were the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn, and the Village Council of Nowa.
