Architecture and genre scenes from the Miechów region are Marek Hołda’s favourite painting subjects. An exhibition of his works has been on display since Thursday at the Municipal Public Library in Bolesławiec. The artist prefers traditional easel painting. He paints both landscapes and battle scenes. Marek Hołda’s greatest fascination is horses—those in paintings and those that exist in reality, which the artist transfers onto canvas. The horses in the artist’s paintings are no coincidence—Marek Hołda is connected with them every day. He is an equestrian instructor at the Udorz Horse Stud.
The artist constantly perfects his craft, supplementing it with sound historical knowledge through studies of the culture of a given era, weapons, uniforms and customs. Marek Hołda is a talented and exceptionally hard-working artist. His achievements include an impressive body of work—well over a thousand canvases. Fascinated by Miechów, the artist also appreciated the artistic qualities of our city, painting several works depicting Bolesławiec.
The exhibition of Marek Hołda’s paintings is complemented perfectly by a presentation of photographs by Katarzyna Wiszowaty. The show at the Format gallery is the first public presentation of her work to date. Katarzyna Wiszowaty is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. She works as a breeder at the Prudnik Horse Stud. She is also a journalist and photojournalist. She publishes her articles and photographs in leading Polish and foreign magazines devoted to horse breeding and equestrianism.
The exhibition of Marek Hołda’s paintings and Katarzyna Wiszowaty’s photographs can be viewed at the Format gallery of the Municipal Public Library until the end of July.
