The Spanish Teatro de Roias group from Toledo and the Polish group from Teatr Bom-Baż in Jelenia Góra jointly staged Sophocles’ “Antigone” in Bolesławiec. The outdoor performance attracted many viewers on Sunday evening.

The performance resulted from the development of shared, transnational methods and techniques for working in independent theatre. Actors from both groups had been working together since 15 July. Their aim was to learn about each other’s customs, Spanish and Polish culture, and create a performance addressing, in reference to recent history, the difficult choices between what is ethical and humane and what is imposed by the law enforced by those in power.
