One of the items on the agenda of the September session of the Bolesławiec City Council was a vote on a draft resolution “on expressing consent to handing over for use the developed property located at 10 Bankowa Street in Bolesławiec”. Sixteen councillors voted in favour, while three voted against (Mirosław Sakowski from PO, as well as Stanisław Andrusieczko and Piotr Hetel from SLD). Under the resolution, the city authorities handed the former school building, gymnasium and sports field at Bankowa over to the Piarists for use for 30 years, without a tender. A public primary school and a public lower-secondary school are to be established there.

On 20 September, we asked our readers whether they supported the establishment of a Catholic school in Bolesławiec. Nearly 500 votes were cast in the poll over six days. Eighteen per cent of voters answered our question in the affirmative, while as many as 78% held the opposite view. Four per cent said they were indifferent.
