In the late afternoon, the fire service received information about a collision involving passenger cars on Asnyka Street. At the scene, it turned out that an Opel Vectra and a Volkswagen Golf had collided head-on. The emergency medical service provided assistance to two injured people. The firefighters disconnected the batteries in both vehicles and neutralized the oil spill caused by the collision. The probable cause of the crash was one of the drivers failing to yield the right of way. The police deemed both drivers jointly responsible; each will pay a PLN 300 fine.
After 5:00 p.m., the duty officer of the District Fire Service received a report of a fire at a house at 16 Gdańska Street. The firefighting operation lasted throughout the night because the fire was consuming both visible and hidden structural elements of the building. In addition to the attic, the building’s ceilings were burning, threatening the collapse of the entire tenement.
While the firefighting operation was underway on Gdańska Street, at around 2:00 a.m., the fire service received a report of another fire. This time, a house in Kraśnik Dolny was burning. The firefighters cut off the building’s power supply and carried two gas cylinders outside. After the fire had been extinguished, while searching the burned-out site, the firefighters found the charred body of a man. “Part of the attic was destroyed by fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known. It is being investigated by a fire-safety expert,” Jerzy Kieler, deputy fire service commander, told Boleslawiec.org. The fire in Kraśnik was noticed relatively quickly. The nearest volunteer fire service units arrived at the scene promptly, and the fire was brought under control.
