The “Beautiful Lower Silesian Village” competition, organized by the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, has been decided. The aim of the competition is to select and promote the best, most innovative and exemplary examples of residents’ activity in rural areas.

Forty-eight villages from 28 municipalities across Lower Silesia entered this year’s edition. The competition was held in four categories: “Most Beautiful Village,” “Most Beautiful Homestead,” “Best Village Renewal Initiative” and “Best Start in Village Renewal.”

Pęgów (Oborniki Śląskie Municipality) won the first category, while Ławszowa (Osiecznica Municipality) received an honor. “I have been connected with Ławszowa for 30 years,” says Wanda Abram, who entered the village in the competition. “I cannot imagine living anywhere else. It is quiet and peaceful here; there is the Kwisa River, an abundance of greenery and fantastic people.”

The competition committee visited the village at the beginning of July. “We presented our historic buildings, as well as works by Ryszard Zawadzki and Helena Straszak made of birch wood, crochet works by Teresa Redke and works by Małgorzata Ząbecka made from natural materials. They are beautiful things that particularly appealed to the judges,” the Ławszowa resident explains.

The village recognized by the Marshal’s Office organizes rafting trips and sleigh rides. It also has cycling paths and Nordic walking routes. “We know there is still a lot to do, but this honor motivates us to continue working,” Wanda Abram says with a smile.
