In April this year, a 32-year-old resident of Bolesławiec municipality wanted to register a two-wheeler with an engine capacity of 104 cc. Because he did not have the necessary driving authorisation, he decided to register the vehicle as a moped. To do so, he misled an office employee and fraudulently obtained certification of an untruth.

The man submitted the documents required to register the vehicle at the office, knowing that the engine capacity recorded in the documents did not match the actual specifications. Instead of the actual engine capacity of 104 cc, a capacity of 49 cc was recorded. The 32-year-old registered the vehicle as a moped and rode it on public roads. After being stopped by the police, the man explained that he was aware he had purchased a vehicle with an increased engine displacement whose documents deliberately contained an incorrect entry. He also explained that he did not have a category A driving licence and had therefore purchased a vehicle which, according to the documentation, he could ride without additional authorisation.

Obtaining certification of an untruth by misleading a person authorised to issue a document is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
