At two important celebrations held at the Embassy of Croatia and the Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ambassadors highlighted the uniqueness of the Bolesławiec festival. They praised the organisers for the event’s rich format and for respecting the traditions of repatriates who brought the culture of the Balkans to Polish lands.

At the beginning of July, the mayor and the director of BOK-MCC were invited—as every year—to the Embassy of Croatia for celebrations marking the National Day of the Republic of Croatia and Croatian Armed Forces Day. What is more, both were invited to the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Poznań.

At both ceremonies, Ivan Del Vechio (the ambassador of Croatia) and Koviljka Śpirić (the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina) spoke about their recent visit to Bolesławiec during the South Slavic Cultures Festival.

“The ambassadors spoke very warmly about Bolesławiec,” says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska. “They held our city up as an example for other ambassadors. It was a great distinction to be handed praise for Bolesławiec’s promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Festival,” the director adds.

Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska also emphasised the significance of the events at which Bolesławiec was discussed. “Many consuls and ambassadors came to the embassies for both celebrations. After hearing the praise directed at us, they wanted to establish cooperation with us and asked about the details of organising the Festival,” the director said. “I was even asked to expand the Festival and present other Balkan countries there. This request came from the ambassador of Moldova,” she adds.

Thanks to its contacts and the positive assessment of the South Slavic Cultures Festival, the Bolesławiec event can develop, enrich its format with new artistic events and thereby promote Bolesławiec.
