Several preventive care clubs for children operate in Bolesławiec. Such facilities operate at primary schools and gymnasiums, as well as at Bolesławiec parishes and the Municipal Social Welfare Centre. Preventive care clubs operate on the basis of the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety, which assumes that children should be provided with meaningful ways to spend their free time. This applies both to children from so-called dysfunctional families and to children from ordinary homes.

“We try to bring together in one place children from different backgrounds and organize their time in such a way that good role models spread within the group,” says Maria Wojciechowska, the mayor’s representative for addiction-related matters.

During joint activities, children learn how to function in life. Discos, nature trips and practical preventive workshops are also organized for them, covering topics such as how to relieve stress and cope with negative emotions.
