The Sports Council began its work in October last year. Among other things, the body is to provide opinions on Bolesławiec’s development strategy, the city’s draft budgets and resolutions of the City Council. At the beginning of March, Jan Woch, head of BKS Bobrzanie, left the Council. Woch did not want to comment on the matter. “I stated the reason for my departure in a letter addressed to the mayor,” he stressed. “If the mayor wants to disclose it, he has the right to do so.”
The head of Bolesłavia, Bartosz Gruman, followed in the footsteps of the BKS Bobrzanie president. “The reasons for my resignation are simple: the Council’s lack of consistency in its actions. Since the body was appointed, its members have met twice,” Gruman explained in an interview with “ii”. “To me, this is a fictitious council that decides nothing. Decisions come from above; no other opinions are taken into account. So why should I participate in something like that?”
At the end of May this year, Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman issued an order concerning the “supplementary appointment of members of the Sports Council in the Urban Municipality of Bolesławiec”. Woch and Gruman were replaced by Marcin Klimkowski (Klub Pływacki Masters Bolesławiec) and Jakub Lisiewski (Klub Sportowy Husar).
