This year’s Pierogi Festival took place on Sunday, 27 May, in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka. As in previous years, there was no shortage of fans of flour-based delicacies. One might risk saying that pierogi are the favourite dish of Bolesławiec County. Regular attendees have already learned that, to taste the most delicious ones, it is not worth putting off arriving until the last moment.

Soloists and ensembles performed on stage. The programme included performances by pupils of the local primary school; the Folk Ensemble from Ocice (its instructor is Edward Braszko); dance groups from Żeliszów and Kraszowice (led by Agnieszka Michalczuk); the Singing Ensemble from Żeliszów (instructor: Franciszek Uściński); the Bolesławiec Land Song and Dance Ensemble, directed by Elżbieta Tor; vocalist Jakub Kulpa; and beatboxers from 2 Beats Story.

In the annual competition for the tastiest pierogi, the women from Żeliszów won. The women from Bolesławice, Kraśnik Dolny and Kruszyn shared second place, while the women from Osiecznica came third.

The festival was organised by the Rural Housewives’ Circle, the Village Council and the Primary School in Dąbrowa, as well as the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn.
