The Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec, as in previous years, has joined the Museum Night event. On Saturday, 19 May, from 12:00 p.m. to midnight, visitors will be able to visit free of charge the exhibitions in the buildings at 13 Mickiewicza Street and 14 Kutuzowa Street. What is more, the institution’s staff have prepared many attractions for visitors.
The Ceramics Department at 13 Mickiewicza Street will open the temporary exhibition “White Gold – Porcelain Factories from Parowa,” from the collection of Irena and Roman Gatys and the Association of Lovers of Silesian Porcelain and Postcards. At 6:00 p.m., visitors will be able to watch a multimedia presentation and hear a lecture by Roman Gatys devoted to the history of the items displayed in the exhibition. The collector will be happy to answer visitors’ questions. In addition, the museum shop will offer cups for coffee and tea, sugar bowls and other items made of this noble material for a small fee.
The City History Department at 14 Kutuzowa Street will open an exhibition devoted to the post-war activities of soldiers of the independence and anti-communist underground, prepared in cooperation with the Bolesławiec-based “Polemos” group and Zdzisław Abramowicz.
At 3:30 p.m., historian Leszek Żebrowski will give a presentation related to the exhibition’s subject, entitled “The Persecution of the Cursed Soldiers.” At 4:30 p.m., Władysław Dłużniewski, a soldier of the National Armed Forces who continued fighting until 1947, will share his personal memories and experiences. The event has received the honorary patronage of Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman.
Moreover, during Museum Night, all publications produced by the Museum of Ceramics will be available at a discount of up to 50%. The Museum’s academic staff will be ready to provide everyone interested with information, guidance and expert opinions on events or objects connected with the history and culture of the city.
