We received information about the links from one of our readers. At the bottom of www.nowogrodziec.pl there were links to a construction portal and a website featuring photos of women. This outraged the reader.

Two things concern me. First, the interesting links at the very bottom (naked women). And then the advertising links (luzyce.info, some inflatables, an internet radio station). My tax money is also used to maintain the website, so why are private companies advertising for free? Is it appropriate for a municipal website to have advertisements at all?

The links at the bottom were probably the result of the insufficiently secured office website being hacked. The banners on the left, however, were certainly intentional.

Dear Mr Krzysztof Gwizdała, Editor of Istotne Informacje,

In response to your request for information about the links that appeared on our website, www.nowogrodziec.pl, on 9 April 2012, I kindly explain that unknown persons unlawfully interfered with the content of the above website by placing links to other websites there. Immediately after receiving this information, the following actions were taken:

  1. access to the www.nowogrodziec.pl website was temporarily blocked.
  2. the illegal links were removed from the website,
  3. the logs concerning visits to the www.nowogrodziec.pl website were secured.

Furthermore, it is planned to review the website’s security and possibly conclude an agreement for the development and hosting of a new website based on the CMS THEA.

At the same time, in response to the rest of your questions, we state the following. Commercial companies’ banners were placed on the left side of the www.nowogrodziec.pl website, including:

  1. TV Łużyce – a cooperation agreement was concluded; at the same time, it is the only local TV station reaching several counties. In this way, we make it easier for readers of our website to access the TV Łużyce website.
  2. Inflatable-raft trips: in this way, we promote the Kwisa River, the tourist attractions of our municipality, and ways to spend free time, including in the Nowogrodziec municipality. This also promotes the “For the Kwisa – for Nature” project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the “Zielona Akcja” Foundation. The project aims to prepare small-scale tourist infrastructure to protect the Kwisa River from excessive tourist pressure.
  3. Radio Lubań: mutual provision of services – a banner (the coat of arms of the Nowogrodziec Municipality) also appears on the Radio Lubań website, redirecting readers directly to our website, which will certainly increase the number of visits to our website.
