In October last year, by order of Mayor Piotr Roman, the Sports Council began its work. The body, which was appointed to issue opinions on, among other things, Bolesławiec’s development strategy, the city’s draft budgets and resolutions of the City Council, consisted of: Bartosz Gruman (Inter-School Sports Club “Bolesłavia”), Dominik Broniszewski (Cyklosport Cycling Group), Jan Woch (Bolesławiec Sports Club “Bobrzanie”), Damian Giza (Sports Club “Kolonia”), Ireneusz Góra (TKKF Bolesławianka Sports Association), Robert Tomczyk (TOP), Dorota Bernat (“Masters” Swimming Club), Dariusz Jośko, director of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre, and Jacek Dudyński from the Bolesławiec municipal office.
At the beginning of March this year, Jan Woch, head of BKS Bobrzanie, left the Council. Woch does not want to comment on the matter. “I stated the reason for my departure in a letter addressed to the mayor,” he stresses. “If the mayor wants to disclose it, he has the right to do so.”
Bartosz Gruman, head of Bolesłavia, followed in the footsteps of the BKS Bobrzanie president. “The reasons for my resignation are simple: the Council’s lack of consistency in its actions. Since the body was appointed, its members have met twice,” Gruman explains. “To me, it is a fictitious council that decides nothing. Decisions come from above, and no other opinions are taken into account. So why should I participate in something like this?”
We will return to the matter.
