The second Wedding Fair proved very popular. This year, participants could sample wedding dishes and take part in a lottery. A total of 299 tickets were placed in the draw. The main prize was a wedding dress. Other prizes included dinner for two and a hotel stay, wedding-dress accessories, a veil, a garter and stockings (funded by the “Alicja” salon from Chojnów), as well as a photo album.

– Eighteen companies presented themselves at the fair – says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MCC. – The stands were very decorative and professionally prepared. The wedding delicacies were a pleasant gift from the exhibitors. The main lottery prize, a wedding dress, attracted enormous interest. The number of visitors shows that this initiative is very much needed. Residents and local businesses were happy to take advantage of it – the director adds.

New wedding-dress collections were presented at the fair. Wedding-dress trends are first discovered at international fairs in Barcelona. Domestic fashion designers draw inspiration from there.

– This year, airy, delicate dresses decorated with ruffles are fashionable – says Małgorzata Jaworska, owner of the “Alicja” salon in Chojnów. – Smoothly draped, gathered or cut tulle is in charge. An example is the “Taffi” dress by Gala, which I am presenting at the fair today – adds the owner of the “Alicja” salon.

Małgorzata Jaworska also said that eccentric headwear would be fashionable this year: veils, pillbox hats and veils made of shredded tulle. Popular styles include girlish princess dresses—flared dresses fitted at the waist, resembling the attire of princesses from well-known fairy tales (Snow White or Cinderella)—and empire dresses, with the models cut just below the bust.

– Every woman looks for her own style and her own dress – says Małgorzata Jaworska. – The worst is when a bride wants to please her mother, mother-in-law, friends and fiancé all at once. That is a drama. Choosing a wedding dress is exclusively the bride’s decision – she cautions.

The salon owner told the story of a client who was looking for a modest dress for her wedding. – I showed her simple models and could not see even a hint of a smile on her face – Jaworska recounts. – I took a chance and suggested a more ornate dress to the future bride, although the woman resisted, saying it was not her style. When she finally tried it on and looked at herself in the mirror, her face lit up. She then said to me: “All my life I’ve been a gray mouse, and am I supposed to be a gray mouse at my wedding too? Never! I’ll take this dress!”

Traditional dishes to accompany vodka will still reign on wedding tables. Broth, pork cutlets and roast poultry. Other dishes will appear as appetizers. Spinach is popular, either as a side dish or filling, so the spinach roulades served at the fair disappeared the fastest.

The newlyweds can arrive at the church in a luxury car. – The wedding season begins after Easter and lasts until November – says the owner of the Lux-Trans company from Bolesławiec. – We have two beautiful vintage Rolls-Royce limousines for hire: a white 1975 Silver Shadow and a red 1982 Silver Spirit. These exclusive cars are luxuriously equipped and will certainly make this important day even more beautiful – wished the newlyweds Krzysztof Kijowski.
